Webinar: Machine Communication in the context of Industry 4.0
As part of the fourth industrial revolution, IT and production technologies are merging with the objective of a self-organizing factory (smart factory) that further increases the efficiency of industrial processes.
A key role here is occupied by the connection of cyber-physical systems (CPS), which must ensure transparent and continuous access to process and production-relevant information.
The example of the Sercos III Industrial Ethernet solution is used to highlight how IT protocols and real-time protocols can co-exist via a uniform network infrastructure, without hindering the performance of real-time communication. Also explained is how the device-specific functions of automation devices can be made available not just locally via the real-time network, but also via any superordinate data infrastructure, such as OPC-UA.
